On June 29 and 30, St. Augustine's Seminary hosted the 2nd Regional Seminar on Quality Assurance in Ecclesiastical Higher Education Institutions in North America. The seminar, organized by the Vatican’s Agency for the Evaluation and Promotion of Quality in Ecclesiastical Universities and Faculties (AVEPRO), brought together 19 of the ecclesiastical faculties in North America, as well as a representative from the civil theological accrediting body in Canada and the United States, the Association of Theological Schools, for a time of discussion about approaches to quality assurance in the granting of ecclesiastical theological degrees.

On the evening of June 29, the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul, Bishop John A. Boissonneau presided at Mass in the seminary chapel with the seminar participants and remained as a guest for the banquet dinner that followed.

St. Augustine’s Seminary was grated status as an ecclesiastical faculty in 2022, allowing it to offer not only civilly accredited theological degrees, but also ecclesiastical baccalaureate, license (equivalent to an advanced Masters) and, eventually, doctoral degrees in theology. In addition to its ecclesiastical baccalaureate degree for seminarians, St. Augustine’s Seminary now offers an advanced Licentiate in Theology and Patristic Studies, open to all.
